Wooden bridges, trout-clear water, and a trail disappearing under deodar trees made this valley walk feel wonderfully unhurried.
The trail began beside the river, close enough that its sound followed us for most of the morning. Villages appeared in small clusters: slate roofs, apple trees, and hand-painted signs offering tea.
Walking without a summit
Not every trek needs a dramatic finish. This one was about the rhythm of the path — crossing a narrow bridge, stopping beside a pool of clear green water, and following shafts of sunlight through the forest.
We camped on a small shelf above the river. Dinner was simple, the sky was moonless, and the sound of the Tirthan filled every pause in conversation.
What I carried home
Walk slowly here. The valley’s best details are small: moss on an old stone wall, woodsmoke between trees, and the flash of a trout in cold water.
